Frequently Asked Questions

This page answers common questions merchants may have while installing, setting up, and using ReportWisp.

1. What is ReportWisp?

ReportWisp is a reporting and analytics app for Shopify stores. It helps merchants turn store data into clear reports, analytics dashboards, export-ready views, and business insights across sales, orders, customers, products, inventory, payments, payouts, refunds, disputes, gift cards, and store operations.

ReportWisp helps merchants reduce manual reporting work and make better decisions using structured store data.

2. Who should use ReportWisp?

ReportWisp is useful for store owners, operators, finance teams, marketing teams, inventory teams, customer support teams, analysts, and leadership teams.

It is especially helpful for stores that want better visibility into store performance, product movement, customer behavior, inventory health, financial activity, refunds, payouts, and operational risks.

3. What kind of reports does ReportWisp provide?

ReportWisp provides reporting across major store performance areas, including:

  • Executive Store Health
  • Orders Reporting
  • Order Line Item Analytics
  • Refunds & Reversals
  • Products & Inventory Health
  • Customers & Retention
  • Sales Channels & Attribution
  • Payments & Transactions
  • Inventory Locations
  • Payout Reconciliation
  • Gift Cards
  • Disputes & Risk
  • POS & Retail Operations

These reports help merchants understand performance across sales, finance, customers, products, inventory, marketing, and operations.

4. How is ReportWisp different from basic store reports?

Basic store reports may provide limited visibility into specific areas of performance. ReportWisp is designed to bring multiple reporting areas into one structured reporting workspace.

It helps merchants connect performance signals across orders, products, customers, inventory, refunds, transactions, payouts, channels, disputes, gift cards, and POS operations instead of reviewing each area separately.

5. Does ReportWisp change anything in my store?

No. ReportWisp is a reporting and analytics app.

It reads store data to generate reports, dashboards, exports, and insights. It does not change your products, orders, customers, inventory, theme, checkout, storefront, pricing, or store settings.

6. Why does ReportWisp need access to my store data?

ReportWisp needs access to store data so it can generate accurate reports and analytics.

Depending on the reports available in your plan, ReportWisp may need access to data such as orders, customers, products, variants, inventory, transactions, refunds, locations, gift cards, payouts, disputes, fulfillment information, and POS-related data.

This access is used only to prepare reporting and analytics inside ReportWisp.

7. Why does ReportWisp request access to orders older than 60 days?

ReportWisp requires access to orders older than 60 days to generate complete historical reports.

Historical order access helps ReportWisp provide:

  • Long-term sales trends
  • Monthly, quarterly, and yearly comparisons
  • Customer retention analysis
  • Product performance history
  • Refund trend analysis
  • Revenue reporting
  • Period-over-period reporting

Without historical access, some reports may only show recent data and long-term analysis may be incomplete.

8. How long does the first data sync take?

The first data sync usually takes 2–5 minutes, but the exact time depends on the size of your store data.

Stores with more orders, products, customers, variants, inventory records, transactions, refunds, gift cards, payouts, or POS data may take longer to sync.

During this time, ReportWisp prepares the data needed to generate reports and dashboards.

9. What happens if data sync fails?

If data sync fails, ReportWisp notifies our team.

You do not need to restart the sync yourself. Our team will review the issue and manually restart the sync if required.

For urgent assistance, contact support@reportwisp.com with your store name, store URL, and a screenshot of the issue.

10. Why are my reports not showing data?

Reports may show no data when:

  • Data sync is still in progress
  • Data sync failed
  • The selected date range has no matching records
  • Filters are too narrow
  • Required permissions are missing
  • The store does not have the related data
  • The report depends on a feature your store does not use

For example, Gift Card reports may be empty if your store has not issued gift cards, and POS reports may be empty if your store does not use Shopify POS.

11. Why does my report data look incomplete?

Report data may look incomplete because of sync status, missing permissions, unavailable historical data, filters, date range selection, or store configuration.

For example:

  • Customer reports may be incomplete if many orders were placed through guest checkout.
  • Inventory reports may be incomplete if inventory tracking is disabled.
  • Payout or dispute reports may be incomplete if the required payment data is not available.
  • Channel attribution reports may be incomplete if campaign or source data was not captured.

If the underlying data exists in Shopify but does not appear in ReportWisp after sync completion, contact support.

12. Why do ReportWisp numbers differ from another report or spreadsheet?

Numbers may differ because different reports or systems may use different calculation methods.

Differences may come from:

  • Date range
  • Time zone
  • Order created date vs. processed date
  • Refund date vs. order date
  • Gross sales vs. net sales
  • Discounts
  • Taxes
  • Shipping
  • Fees
  • Payment status
  • Fulfillment status
  • Currency handling
  • Filters applied
  • Data refresh timing

When comparing reports, make sure the same date range, filters, metric definitions, and order statuses are being used.

13. Can I export reports?

Yes. ReportWisp supports exporting report data in supported formats such as CSV and XLSX.

Exports are useful when you need to share reports with your team, finance department, accounting team, operations team, or external analysts.

Export availability may depend on your ReportWisp plan and report type.

14. Can different teams use ReportWisp for different purposes?

17. Does ReportWisp support payment, payout, and transaction reporting?

18. Does ReportWisp support gift card reports?

Yes. ReportWisp supports gift card reporting where gift card data is available.

Gift card reports help merchants review active gift cards, issued value, remaining balances, redemption activity, expired gift cards, customer-linked gift cards, and outstanding gift card liability.

If your store has not issued gift cards or gift card data is unavailable, this report may appear empty.
